WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR FIRST DANCE CLASS
So you’ve put your name down for your first class, but what now?
You might be a bit nervous right now, but don’t worry, we’re here to help make sure you have an amazing time and feel super comfortable at the studio.
I’ve never danced before and have two left feet - is this for me?
Yes! We teach classes from an absolute beginner level, so everyone is welcome to come along – if you can walk, then we can teach you to dance!
Do I need to bring a dance partner?
Guys and girls both book in separately all the time, and we actually rotate dance partners throughout the class as well, so you’ll get a chance to dance with everyone in the room. It works really well too, because you can test your moves with everyone in the class, to help make sure you’re getting it perfectly.
What should I wear?
Smart casual is the best advice on this one – something you’d be likely to wear out for drinks with friends. Just make sure it’s something you can move freely in, and you feel comfortable dancing in too.
For shoes, something with a smooth sole is best. It’ll save your knees for later, when you’re twisting and spinning around the dance floor. For guys, office or dress shoes are usually the best option, while for ladies, usually a sandal or dress boot (dependent on the weather and temperature) – heels are great, but you can also wear flats if you feel more comfortable in them.
What time should I arrive?
We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time for your first class, this should give you just enough time to see us at reception beforehand, and you will still be able to start your class on time.
How long is each class?
All of our classes are 45 minutes in length, followed by 15 minutes of practice time and social dancing.
Where should I park?
We have some off street parking available right outside our studio, just turn into the long driveway at Taco Bell. Sometimes it does fill up on our busy nights though, so if you’re looking for more parking options, Egerton Street is right near us and has on street parking available too.
